Music Marketing Progress #1
The ideal of this Music Marketing project is to "create a marketing campaign for a new music artist/group." My partners Grace, Max, Rachel, and I picked the genre bluegrass, drawn randomly from a hat, and began researching about 4 different bluegrass artist. Once the research was completed we planned what are schedule is going to look like in class for the next week.
Building Our Brand
December 4th, My group came up with "Tainted Roots" as our band name, and we all agreed to keep that name. After, my group got straight to work with brainstorming ideas for our music video after we collectively decided what song we wanted to promote. We wanted to film a promotional music video as it works well with our genre of music. I started working on the storyboard to get a somewhat clear image of how the music video will be filmed and some techniques we could incorporate within the video. My group member, Grace, suggested that we could film at her house due to having the perfect backyard where our video could be shot. Lucky, my group members had the necessary instruments, making our production exactly how we wanted it to go.
December 6th, I made slight changes to the storyboard as my group wanted to expand the setting. Rachel, Grace, and I started brainstorming logo ideas and we all decided on the perfect one. Rachel went along and drew multiple sketches of our idea and conducted a final logo which includes a tree root, and each root containing the first initial of each band members name. This logo will be included on multiple merchandise that we will sell on our website. Grace and I started working on the PowerPoint, adding a "Meet the Band" slide and a "How We All Met" slide. Lastly, we shared what outfits would work best for the music video since we were going to film the Sunday coming up.
Filming our Music Video
December 8th, my group and I met up at Grace's house and got straight to filming. We started off with the basic long shots of all of us playing and then went to filming multiple close ups of each member playing their instrument. After about two and a half hours later, we got most of our shots complete, but since we wanted to change locations, we went to a local park. There, we took some solo photos of each group member to add to the "Meet the Band" slide as well as many shots of our lead singer, Max, to insert throughout the music video. On our way back to the car, we recorded our voices for our Spotify ad. When we were in the car, we filmed a TikTok, advertising our new song "Very Wild Thing." Finally, we got back to Grace's house we took multiple group photos that will be included in our website and social media pages.
Overall
I think my group got a lot of stuff done with still so much time to do other things, such as make changes. Next class, I hope to get most of the PowerPoint finished as well as start editing the music video.
